Eccentronic
Research Council return with Ltd split 7"
single featuring Maxine Peake in tribute to Delia Derbyshire.
Eccentronic Research Council are back with actress
Maxine Peake for a Ltd 7” single in honour of the BBC Radiophonic
Workshop’s leading lady Delia Derbyshire. The ERC took inspiration from
Derbyshires 1964 collaborative piece with Barry Bermange titled ‘The Dreams’, a
sound collage which combined Derbyshire’s ring modulation with snippets of
people recalling their dreams allowing listeners to travel through their warped
subliminal.
In the Council’s rendition, Peake talks about a last minute trip to Ibiza she had. The ERC will be releasing this limited edition single on their own label Desolate Spools which will be available to buy from the bands website from the end of the month. On the flip side, the ERC have pulled in documentary maker, Carol Morley and PYE CORNER AUDIO (Ghost Box). Also available to buy will be a bundle including a handmade, stamped and numbered Dreamcatcher Tapes cassette featuring 10 other dreamers soundtracked by the ERC.
On October 16th The Eccentronic Research Council will be joined by Maxine Peake for a live show at Hebden Bridge’s Trades Club. They will also be performing 1612 Underture (2012’s superb 14-track collaboration with Peake inspired by the tale of the Pendle witch trials) at the National Gallery of Scotland in Edinburgh on 31st October.
