NIGHT OF TREASON
“Gentlemen & Hooligans”
Debut album out 30 April 2012

“I’m a Scot through and through, but there’s something undeniably English about this I really like. A Letter From The Front is fucking brilliant.” Jon Fratelli, The Fratellis

South Coast punk rockers Night Of Treason release their long-awaited debut album, “Gentlemen & Hooligans”, on 30 April. Already veterans of over 250 gigs, the group have long been a favourite of new wavers old and new, with the likes of Mick Jones of The Clash/BAD, Billy Bragg and Mike Peters of The Alarm/Big Country having joined them onstage.

Produced by Smiley, former sticksman for Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros/Robbie Williams, “Gentleman & Hooligans” bursts with vital old-school punk energy. Songs veer from Elvis Costello-style storytelling (Ballad Of The Teddy Boy From Ladbroke Grove) to nosebleed Oi! (If You Wannit; Speed & Glue & Rock’n’Roll), to thumping, elegant, Clash-inspired rock (A Letter From The Front; On Clockwork Orange Street).

“The record started off as a concept album about someone returning to their home city, having seen a bit of the world,” explains singer Pinky. “The main character wonders what happened to all his idealistic school friends, and he starts remembering things about his old job in a social security office, sniffing glue in the park, football, reading war comics… But then we had all these other great songs, and the whole thing took on another shape. We think it’s the best English punk record since the ’70s.”

Night Of Treason are signed to Cherry Red Songs, and will perform “Gentlemen & Hooligans” (available via Amazon) at a special pre-launch show at 12 Bar club, Denmark Street, WC2 on Wednesday 21 March.
