Review: Devon Elizabeth
Devon Elizabeth - Neon Night (SoundFury Music)
Though she only began playing guitar five short years ago, Devon Elizabeth’s musical development has progressed in leaps and bounds. “Neon Night” is an accomplished collection of recordings; its six tracks showcase a talented singer-songwriter, with a ready understanding of contemporary and classic pop and soul.
The standout tracks here would sound perfectly at home on daytime radio playlists, possibly spun between the new Joss Stone record and a Katie Melua oldie. Fans of both should check out “Neon Light”, and in particular the driving title track, where funky keys and bass perfectly compliment Elizabeth’s playful vocal, and “Celeste”, a song that ought to soundtrack sunny days in the city.
