Review: Deison – Quiet Rooms

Deison – Quiet Rooms (Aagoo Records)
Deison has been working in the fields of avant noise and electronics for the past two decades and has appeared on split releases alongside the likes of Thurston Moore, Scanner and KK Null.

“Quiet Rooms” comprises four tracks, where field recordings of four empty hotel rooms have been built upon with layers and various electronic processes. Deison has taken what appeared to be silence, and magnified it to illustrate how nothingness and isolation can cause the mind to play tricks and implant hallucinatory images and ghostly presences.

An intense and unnerving experience: with only the occasional passing trolley, trundling lift or distant human voice for refuge.
