Review: Qluster
Qluster – Rufen (Bureau B Records)
“Rufen” follows spring 2011’s “Fragen” and is the second installment of a trilogy of Qluster music in which Kluster / Cluster / Qluster constant, Hans Joachim-Roedelius and sound installationist, Onnen Bock present four stirring live recordings from August and December 2010. Once again the duo avoid using computers and digital sound to etch their sparse and beguiling imaginary landscapes.
With barren scenery, Qluster add textures which offer shreds of beauty, or envisage peaceful post-apocalypse, or alien encounters, or are vaguely haunting, or which infuse feint glimmers of human hope with a backdrop of falling ash. Nice.
