Introducing: The Monteurs
Their record: The Monteurs EP (Independent)
They say: “The Monteurs were formed to make
four old guys and one young guy very happy. Drawing on years of professional
experience, they came together to form an acoustic band playing original songs
and intelligent and obscure covers. With an unusual lineup featuring electric
bass, acoustic guitar, harmony vocals, accordion, mandolin and ukulele, The
Monteurs sound is off the beaten track and different. Infusing uplifting, fun,
hummable tunes whilst still being able to show their more “romantic” side with
some softer slower songs, the set features material to please even the most
hardened cynic.
Recently formed, they are starting to make a name for themselves in some small way throughout the South of England.
They are also a lot of fun to watch with a sharp sense of humour; The Monteurs are definitely one to watch for the future.”

We say:
On their new four-song The Monteurs play melodic English-style folk-rock, with
plenty of clever wordplay and just a hint of tongue-in-cheek humour. Their EP
makes for a succinct introduction to a group’s style and approach, and on the
strength of these songs, we’d be happy to spend an evening in their company -
over a decent ale or three.
