Review: Tolouse Low Trax
Tolouse Low Trax – Jeidem Fall (Karaoke Kalk)
“Jeiden Fall” is the third full-length release for Dusseldorfer, Detlef Weinrich’s solo project Tolouse Low Trax. It’s a weighty and dark release where the eight tracks tend to take a musical idea and run with them without deviating too much, from beginning to end.
The intense repetitions and industrial stabs of opener, “Geo Scan” recalls Suicide as an obvious reference point. From there on a variety of clicks, electro-slaps, squelches and highly percussive electronics see the tracks crawl their way through robotic tribalism (“Jeidem Fall”), laborious and heavy machinations (“Sa Eline”), spacey atmospheres (“Barka”) and culminates in what could possibly be described as masochistic techno flagellations.
